Castilla y León

Castilla y León is a protected geographical indication, used to designate local wines made from grapes produced in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.

Under this protected indication, red, white and rosé wines are produced in 317 towns in the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora.

Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León was born in 2005 with the intention of protecting quality wines, winemakers and wineries that are not covered by any Denomination of Origin in the entire Castilian territory of Leon.

In addition to the already known native varieties, such as Tinta de Toro, Tempranillo, Verdejo, Malvasía, Rufete, Garnacha… a good number of authorized foreign varieties can be used, from the Cabernet Sauvignon to the Chardonnay or the Gewürztraminer, the Pinot Noir or Syrah
